In about 1972-1977, the Queen of England had, and still has, many wonderful horses that she sent all over the world. Before the development of CHAFFHAYE, she would buy local feed from the areas where she sent her horses. On one trip to South America, her people bought some local feed and stored it behind the feed that was being used. Sometime later, the locally purchased feed was given to her horses and many of them became sick. After that episode, the Queen sent her horse management personnel to Australia and New Zealand where they researched and developed a feed made from alfalfa that was able to be stored in double plastic bags. The feed that she had developed was patented under the name CHAFFHAYE. In 1995 the Queens patent on the CHAFFHAYE process expired, so developers from New Zealand came to the United States to set up a factory to produce this unique feed. After looking over most of the U. S. Southwest for an ideal location, a facility was built in Dell City, Texas. The Dell City facility was purchased by Mr. Layton who then began producing this exceptional feed under the patent-pending name CHAFFHAYE.. For the first 4 years of production, the total CHAFFHAYE plant output was purchased by one dealer and moved to Colorado. This is the main reason that CHAFFHAYE was not yet well-known nationally. Then, in the mid-1990s, Cimarron Agricultural, Ltd. purchased the Dell City facility and surrounding farms. Production was tripled and the decision was made to begin nation-wide distribution. |
